Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University was established by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2005, U. P. Act No.28 of 2005 and came into being on 4th of January 2006 to meet up the new challenges in the legal field. The university is keeping its pace by achieving its goals;

• To advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of the law and legal processes and their role in national development;
• To develop in the student and research scholar a sense of responsibility to serve the society in the field of law by developing skills in regard to advocacy, Judicial and other legal services, legislation, law reforms in the existing laws and the like;
• To organize lectures, symposia and conferences, to promote legal knowledge and to make law and legal process the efficient instrument of social development. The university is recognized by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) and 12(B).
